My name is Ken Middleton. I am 65 years old and live in a small village in England. I am a Christian. I play the ukulele.
For 35 years I was a classroom music teacher at a high school. Now, I work as International Marketing Manager for Ohana Music Inc. Ohana is a well-known ukulele company based in Long Beach, California.
My job with Ohana involves attending ukulele festivals and trade shows, designing instruments, talking with dealers and customers and helping to make decisions about the future of the company.
Recently, I created my own ukulele string company called Living Water Strings. These strings are made from pure fluorocarbon. I initially made them for myself. I wanted some strings that exactly fitted my requirements. They have certainly been very well received. They are available for all four sizes of ukulele: Soprano, Concert, Tenor and Baritone.
Contrary to what it says on the packet, they are made by me, in England. You can buy my strings from this website.
One of the most important aspects of my work with Ohana is to attend ukulele festivals. These events give me the opportunity to show the instruments to the public and allow them the chance to try them out.
At most festivals now I find time to teach workshops. I offer a wide range and variety of classes on different aspects of ukulele playing. This is something I really enjoy doing.
I regularly perform at festivals too. It has been my privilege to perform with some of the world’s best ukulele players. I now count many of them as good friends and stay in regular contact. It is wonderful to keep meeting up with them in different parts of the world.
Here is a photo of Liz, my wife, at the Ohana stand at the recent Ukes for UNICEF festival at Berkhamsted, near London.
Whenever I visit anywhere I always try to make YouTube videos. Please check out my channel to see some of these videos. At the time of writing this I have made over 720 ukulele videos, as well as many more on my other channels.
Please check my calendar to see which events I will be attending this year.
I started my YouTube ukulele channel early in 2008 and since then I have
got to know many great players and enthusiasts of the instrument. Although I have not had the chance to meet many of them in person, I really value their friendship, support and encouragement.
I shall be closing the Living Water Strings online store for about a week. You can still buy strings, but they may not be shipped until Monday 1st May (I need to make some alterations to my office). However, if you order any 2 or more sets of strings between 8am (GMT) Sunday 23rd April and …
If you were around in the early day of YouTube you will probably know everyone on this video. It was less than a decade ago, but there were far fewer ukulele players in those days. We recently put together this video. If you haven’t seen it, please take a look. It was completed just last …
I have never seen this TV show, but it has a great theme tune. The tune dates back a long way and there are many different versions. I chose the version of the tune that most interested me. Hope you enjoy. Download here: http://www.kenmiddleton.co.uk/tabs-for-sale/
