About Me

My name is Ken Middleton. I am now 61 years old and I live in a small village in England. I am a Christian. I play the ukulele.

For 35 years I was a music teacher at a high school. Now, I work as International Marketing Manager for Ohana Music Inc.  Ohana is a ukulele company based in Long Beach, California.

My job with Ohana involves attending ukulele festivals and trade shows, designing instruments, talking with dealers and customers and helping to make decisions about the future of the company.

As part of my job I have to travel quite a bit and I consider myself fortunate to be able to see and experience so many different places. Here I am by the beach in San Francisco following the 2011 Wine Country Uke Fest.

Recently, I created my own ukulele string company called Living Water Strings

These strings are made from pure fluorcarbon. I initially made them for myself. I wanted some strings that exactly fitted my requirements. They have certainly been very well received.

They are available for all four sizes of ukulele: Soprano, Concert, Tenor and Baritone.

If you want to buy these strings, they are, at the moment, only available from this website. Click on the meny at the top to find them.

Contrary to what it says on the packet, they are made by me, in England.

One of the most important aspects of my work with Ohana is to attend ukulele festivals. These events give me the opportunity to show the instruments to the public and allow them the chance to try them out.

At most festivals now I find time to teach workshops. I offer a wide range and variety of classes on different aspects of ukulele playing. This is something I really enjoy doing.

Sometimes I perform at festivals too. It has been my privilege to perform with some of the world's best ukulele players. I now count many of them as good friends and stay in regular contact. It is wonderful to keep meeting up with them in different parts of the world.

Meeting new people is something that gives me a lot of pleasure. But it is particularly nice when you meet someone in person that you have known for a long time at a distance on YouTube or FaceBook.

Here is a photo of myself and my wife at our stand at the Ukulele Boudoir Festival in Paris in 2011.

I got the opportunity to stay with friends on Prince Edward Island last year. I took lots  of photos. Photography is one of hobbies. Here is one of a fisherman's house in one of the quaint working harbours on the island.

It is because I attend festivals on behalf of Ohana that I get the chance to visit so many places.

Whenever I visit anywhere I always try to make YouTube videos. Please check out my channel to see some of these videos. At the time of writing this I have made over 460 ukulele videos, as well as many more on my other channels.

Please check my calendar to see which events I will be attending this year.

I started my YouTube ukulele channel early in 2008 and since then I have
got to know many great players and enthusiasts of the instrument. Although I have not had the chance to meet many of them in person, I really value their friendship, support and encouragement.

A few of my YouTube friends have been making videos even before me. In this photo I am getting a tour of San Francisco from my friend Russell. I was able to visit him and his family for one day last year. I had a wonderful time. Russell joined YouTube around the same time as me.
